Prior to the release of her debut novel WHEN HEROES FALL (AmErica
House, ISBN: 1-58851-099-9) in November 2001, D.L.
Bolk was a technical writer for many years.
She is a past president of Maryland Romance Writers, a chapter of
Romance Writers of America (RWA), and was the Maryland Regional
Representative for the National Association of Women Writers.

first as a Category winner in the Unpublished Division - Historical/Paranormal/Time

Louisiana cop, Dave Robicheaux a recovering alcoholic, travels back to his hometown,
New Iberia, New Orleans when his friend Jimmy Dolan (a Catholic priest) is beaten.
Dave's investigate into Father Jimmie's beating takes him down dark alleys that
lead back to the 1930's and the mysterious disappearance of Louisiana convict
Junior Crudup an R&B singer with more talent than luck.
Junior Crudup's disappearance could prove to the one alley that Dave shouldn't
travel and the route that could take him to his own grave.
Burke plays on the emotions and easy sucks the reader into the story. Last Car
To Elysian Fields, is a gritty, intriguing 'can't-put-it-down' novel.

The English village of Innisdale goes from charming to chilling when American
teacher Grace Hollister extends her sabbatical to act as an advisor for a local
production of The Vampyre.
Accidents begin to plague the cast of the Vampyre,
and rumors of a Vampire attack surface.
Things heat up when a cast member is murdered. The
telltale sign of a Vampire marks the victim's neck.
Vampires aren't Grace's only problem. A jewel thief
is active in the area. She refuses to believe that her boyfriend (ex-jewel thief)
Peter Fox is involved, but she can't deny that he has been acting strange.
After overhearing a phone conversation between Peter
and an unknown sultry-voiced woman, Grace plays girl detective and hides in
wait at local graveyard where she assumes a meeting will take place.
The meeting between Peter and the woman never happens,
but what Grace sees chills her blood and sets the stage for dangerous adventure.
