PI Karl Gatlin takes on a new client, Aria Piper whose case is a simple case of threatening phone calls.  Or is it?

Someone has been calling her and telling her to stop doing Satan’s work or she will meet an “untimely demise.”   Crank calls?  Until a headless body pops in the well on her property.  Aria runs a New Age Spiritual retreat outside Santa Cruz.  Is this body connected to the calls?  What was a simple case has now become quite complicated.

While investigating, with help from a former Rugby star and a hacker, they discover that those in attendance at her “center” are not above reproach.  There is Pastor who leaves a lot to be desired, a money launderer, gang members, and miscellaneous other sketchy characters.  All of which raise questions are they hiding are blackmailing or committing murder?

As Karl continues to investigate and gets in deeper he finds identity theft, corruption, blackmail, and so much more.  Is anything what it seems?

And then there is the sniper who is now targeting Karl.  As Karl uncovers an answer more questions pop up.  Has Aria been honest?  What is she hiding?  What is really going on?

A clever, well written, fast paced thriller.  Highly enjoyable!

On a scale of 1 to 5, I give it a 5.0.
